Whipped Feta, Fig, and Prosciutto Crostini

This crostini is a perfect balance of sweet, salty, and tangy flavors, making it an ideal appetizer for any gathering. The creamy, whipped feta provides a smooth base for the salty prosciutto and the sweet, jammy figs. A drizzle of balsamic glaze finishes this sophisticated bite.

Ingredients

  • baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch thick rounds
  • tablespoons olive oil
  • oz feta cheese, crumbled
  • oz cream cheese, softened
  • tablespoon milk or heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • fresh figs, thinly sliced (or 2 tablespoons fig jam)
  • slices prosciutto, thinly sliced and torn
  • tablespoon balsamic glaze
  • Fresh mint leaves, for garnish

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush baguette slices with olive oil and toast for 8 minutes
  2. minutes until golden and crisp.
  3. While the bread toasts, prepare the whipped feta. In a food processor, combine the crumbled feta, softened cream cheese, milk, and black pepper. Process until completely smooth and creamy.
  4. Spread a generous layer of the whipped feta mixture onto each toasted crostini.
  5. Top each crostini with a small piece of torn prosciutto and a slice of fresh fig (or a dollop of fig jam).
  6. Drizzle lightly with balsamic glaze and garnish with a small fresh mint leaf before serving.

For a perfect wine pairing, serve this crostini with a crisp, slightly sweet white wine like a dry Rosé or a chilled Prosecco, which will complement the salty prosciutto and sweet figs.
