A tribute to the great Norse explorers, this crostini combines the rich, smoky flavor of lox with a tangy dill-infused crème fraîche. The bright capers and pickled onions cut through the richness, offering a refreshing and sophisticated bite perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 baguette, thinly sliced and toasted
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 ounces smoked salmon, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and toast for 5-7 minutes minutes, or until lightly golden. Let cool.
  2. In a small bowl, combine softened cream cheese, fresh dill, lemon juice, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Spread a generous amount of the dill cream cheese mixture onto each toasted baguette slice.
  4. Top each crostini with a slice of smoked salmon, artfully arranged.
  5. Garnish with drained capers and thinly sliced red onion.
