This crostini is a playful and sophisticated nod to National Cheesecake Day, combining the creamy tang of goat cheese with the sweetness of macerated strawberries and a hint of fresh basil. Ingredients

  • small baguette, sliced into 1/2 inch thick rounds (about 16 slices)
  • tablespoons olive oil
  • oz soft goat cheese (chèvre), softened
  • tablespoon honey, plus extra for drizzling
  • cup fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • tablespoon granulated sugar
  • teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced (chiffonade)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush both sides of the baguette slices with olive oil and arrange them on a baking sheet. Toast for 8 minutes
