National Sugar Cookie Fig and Goat Cheese Crostini

This crostini is a sophisticated take on the classic sugar cookie, featuring a creamy, tangy goat cheese base and a sweet, caramelized fig topping. The combination of the crisp, buttery bread, the smooth cheese, and the chewy, jammy figs creates a delightful balance of textures and a complex flavor profile that is perfect for a light dessert or an afternoon treat.

Ingredients

  • baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch thick pieces
  • tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ounces soft goat cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup fig jam or preserves
  • fresh figs, thinly sliced
  • tablespoon balsamic glaze, for drizzling

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush both sides of the baguette slices with melted butter, then mix the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle the mixture evenly over one side of the bread slices.
  2. Arrange the slices, sugar
