This appetizer is a savory journey to the dark side, featuring the rich, smoky depth of prosciutto and a sweet, dark fig jam. The creamy, tangy goat cheese provides a perfect contrast, all balanced on a crisp, toasted baguette slice.

Ingredients

  • baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch thick pieces
  • tablespoons olive oil
  • oz soft goat cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup black mission fig jam
  • oz thinly sliced smoked prosciutto
  • tablespoon dark balsamic glaze
  • teaspoon fresh thyme leaves

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush both sides of the baguette slices with olive oil and toast on a baking sheet for 5 minutes
  2. minutes until lightly golden and crisp.
  3. Remove the crostini from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Spread a generous layer of the soft goat cheese on each slice.
  4. Top the goat cheese with a small dollop of black mission fig jam, then carefully drape a piece of smoked prosciutto over the jam.
  5. Drizzle the crostini with the dark balsamic glaze and sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves for an aromatic finish.
